Helllllooooo everyone! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated you all on some of my favorite moments. (I think April was the last month to be exact!!) And since we are already almost to the end of July, I thought it would just be best to combine May/June and some of July into Summertime Favorites Part One, and then give you a Part Two at the end of summer. Sound good? Okay, cool! Here we go….
May
May is always a busy month for us because there is just so much to celebrate. Starting with Mother’s Day, then my big girl Josie’s birthday, followed by our anniversary, Memorial Day, and then my husband’s birthday on June 1st. It’s like crazytown up in here, y’all. Busy, but a lot of fun and so many important reasons to celebrate we just gotta embrace the chaos.
My sister in law had her first baby girl the day before Josie’s birthday so we were so excited to welcome another member of the family! On my husbands side, that makes 3 girls + 3 boys + 1 boy still cooking–due September! Even though we all live an hour + away from each other, I hope my girls will be super close to their cousins as I was to mine growing up. Family is SO IMPORTANT.
Mother’s Day was nice and relaxing for the most part. My husband was on night shift, so no breaks for this mama, BUT, I got to spend the day with my favorite girls and my mom, and even my brother joined us for lunch!
We celebrated Josie’s 5th Birthday with a Supergirl Party! You can read about it here!
Since our anniversary is the day after Josie’s birthday, we typically haven’t been able to celebrate on the actual day. And this year we really didn’t celebrate at all–only because we were busy. But with all the traveling we’ve done, we kinda just lumped it into that. We are pretty good about date nights, and I think we’ll be scheduling one here soon because its been a while! Happy 6th Anniversary to Us!
My Favorite Uncle turned 60 in January and his gift from us was to see his favorite country artist, Jason Aldean in concert! He performed with Luke Combs and Lauren Alaina and it was such a good show! Country concerts are THE BEST.
June
We kicked off the month celebrating my husbands birthday. Some friends came into town for the weekend and we were hoping to kayak, but the impending weather through a wrench in our plans. But we ended up eating a yummy brunch and drinking some good brews locally, so it was all good. We’ve had SO MUCH RAIN this summer, so it’s been hard to plan around. Instead of cake we had homemade pistachio ice cream. I shared the yummy recipe here!
We traveled to Florida for vacation about a week later and had a great time! You can read about our trip here.
Father’s Day was spent traveling home, but we did surprise Daddy with a date night and tickets to see the new Jurassic World.
My nephew Dakota’s 1st Birthday was the following weekend so we drove up to PA to celebrate. He is the cutest thing ever and is growing so fast! All these babies are–it’s crazy! Love you little buddy!
Josie loves monkeying around with her Uncle Min. She looooooves her some Uncle Min! And he tolerates her crazy well. 😉
After the party we went for ice cream because, who doesn’t need ice cream after having birthday cupcakes?? Speaking of babies getting big–would ya look at these girls!
Josie had her annual check up at the dentist and got another great report! She even has a couple loosey goosey’s! The tooth fairy better start saving up. 😉
The month flew by and before I knew it we were packing up again for our annual trip to North Carolina to visit my Dad and Stepmom. You can read all about our trip here. But first, a trip to the local Farmer’s Market for apple cider donuts and play time to tire the girls before our road trip–which totally didn’t work by the way!
Gimme dat donut!
July
We had a great time in North Carolina, but so glad to get back home with no plans for a few weeks! As much as I love traveling, I also love my bed. There’s nothing like being home.
The best family pic we could get! Still working on that little one–she’s a bit of a toughie! 😉
My girls love the splash pad so we met up with our cousin’s and had a little fun in the sun on a Monday afternoon! One Loudoun in Ashburn, VA has a kids concert series on Monday’s in the summer and it was super cute and something different for the kiddos.
Some of my stepdad’s family was in town so we hung out with them a few times for more splash pad fun, pool time, and bowling. 🙂
Cosmic bowling with Nana!
Lots of summer birthdays, and we celebrated another last weekend. Our friend’s daughter turned 9 and had a fun poolside party! I had some major backyard envy of their house! Despite all the chasing of Isla, we had a great time. 🙂 But that’s just how it is these days with that sweet little thing–it’s always go, go, GO!
If you’ve followed for a while, you know that I left my full time job of almost 10 years in December to become a stay at home mama. I made some great friendships during that time and I’m lucky to still keep in close touch with a couple of my bestest bank gals! We promised to still get together at least three times a year to celebrate our birthdays, and since mine is just a couple weeks away, we got together earlier this week. If there is anything I miss the most about leaving my job is the people. They were seriously some of the best and I gave these girls the BIGGEST HUGS when I saw them! Our afternoon consisted of visiting a local winery, followed by a quick cocktail and my first RAW oyster, then a mexican feast, because–why not?!
Our faces say it all! haha
Over the next few weeks we’ll be gearing up for our kitchen renovation and I’m and equally excited and terrified! Mainly because I’m the most indecisive person ever and I’m anxious to see if what we planned lives up to the expectation in my head. I’m also thinking about how I’m going to survive in my house with kids and without my kitchen for a few weeks??? I guess I’ll be buying all the Costco easy meals, and washing dishing in the bathroom?? If you’ve been through one and have any tips, let me know! I’ll do a before and after post showing everything we’re doing. And a month from now it should be all done and I CANNOT FREAKIN’ WAIT!!!! Eeeeek!
My birthday is also coming up and I thought about doing something fun, like a giveaway on Instagram or a thirty-ish things about me post? No need to broadcast my ripe ol’ age until then, but what do you think? Yay or nay?
I’ll be back in a month or so to wrap up my summer favorites! Thanks for reading! XO
