May…one of my favorite months in the whole entire year. Josie’s birthday month and Aaron and I’s anniversary month. May brings the true Spring weather and Mother’s Day and a few other fun events, but honestly, this May has been different…
Instead of starting off the month excited for all there was to come, I started the month pretty bummed out. Preparing for Aaron’s departure was difficult to say the least. I think unless you’ve lived it you can’t quite understand how it feels to have someone you love so deeply gone for an extended period of time, and even more so trying to mentally prepare for that time….especially during one of the busiest and happiest months of the year. As tough as it is, I have a big job of keeping it together for my girls and giving them the May that I love to have. We’re all doing okay, just missing our main man! All that said….here are our favorite moments from the past month.

One. The momentous occasion we’ve been waiting for finally happened….Josie lost her first tooth! And then Josie lost a second tooth a week later! Read more about that here and the special delivery the tooth fairy made to my sweet girl.

Two. Josie turned SIX years old on the 18th and since I had a friends wedding to attend on the actual day, we celebrated the night before with a cousins sleepover full of playtime, pizza, cupcakes, movie + popcorn, and three little super giggly girls that did not want to go to sleep. They had lots of fun and we are already looking forward to the next one! The next morning we had Minnie waffles and got our nails done like any birthday girl should!

Three. Wedding bells rang for two of my friends that finally decided to get hitched after many years together. We couldn’t be happier for them! And apparently this mama really needed to let loose because mama did. Oh yes, mama did. With two of my besties by my side! Also ordered this dress on Amazon and l o v e it! So fun!

Four. Aaron and I had our 7th wedding Anniversary on May 19th and while we didn’t get to celebrate on the actual day, we were able to get in a date night earlier in the month at a local spot, Regions 117. The food is good and the cocktails are great. Plus having some quality time to ourselves (minus kiddos) on occasion is so nice and SO important for our marriage. And no matter what curve-balls this life throws at us, there is no doubt that he is my person and I love him more than anything in this world. Well, next to our babies of course.

Happy Anniversary Babe!

Five. If you’re a fan of antique, unique, and vintage home furnishings you have to check out The Old Lucketts Store in Northern Virginia. Every year they host a Spring Market in Clarke County where tons of shops come to sell their goodies! I had never been, but this year I grabbed one of my best girlfriends and we went to check it out….and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint! While I only left with one item (a super cool dough bowl for my kitchen) it was so fun to just look at everything! If you get a chance to go–do it!

Six. Memorial Day weekend was fun and super busy! We visited with friends and family each day that weekend and ended with a BBQ at my sister and brother-in laws house. They are about an hour from us, but luckily its a pretty easy drive and we love getting the kiddos together.

Seven. As the school year comes to an end, there have been some super fun activities at Josie’s school this week. I was able to volunteer at the Kindergarten Beach Day on Thursday which is always a special time for me and something I didn’t get to do as often as I wanted to this year. Afterwards, I got to take my little beach bum home with me early and we stopped for a special treat before picking up little sister.

Friday was Field Day and Isla and I joined Josie for lunch in between all the activities. Only 2 1/2 days left until summer break!
