One. Last weekend was another busy one. In Pennsylvania on Saturday and Maryland on Sunday. Despite all the road time, we got to see my in-laws, the grandparents, sister/brother in laws, and my sweet niece and nephew. We really hate to miss any opportunity to get together with everyone, even if it means driving a little bit further to do so.
Family selfie game strong. Ha!
Two. Back to School….Back to School. (just channeling my inner Billy Madison here) ;-). If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you already know that Josie started Kindergarten this week! I haven’t received a lot of feedback from her teacher just yet, but it seems as though she has had a great first couple of days and has woken up excited to go each morning! So I’ll take that as a positive!
This girl kills me with her cuteness.
Three. Something I recently started making on the regular are these energy balls. They are a good source of protein and fiber and my girls (and Aaron and I) love them. A healthier alternative to packaged granola bars, and these in particular are also something the kids can help you make, so its fun too.
Josie is at the age where she wants to do everything herself. I walked in the kitchen the other day and she was making her own PB&J…butter knife and all! I’m like, seriously?! How is she old enough for this?! And if you are like me and always looking for some inspiration when it comes to kid friendly foods, I’m working on a full post with some lunch and snack ideas that should be out later this week.
Four. Isla Belle baby had her 18 month check up on Thursday. She was very clingy to mommy during the entire visit, which surprised me a little bit, but she is also very smart and probably knew something bad was going to happen! Good news is that those are the last three shots she’ll get until her Kindergarten shots. Read all about her 18 month recap here.
Five. I took my little sidekick along for some shopping this week and she was great! I kinda forgot how much easier it is to manage just one kid in public, versus two. Haha. But we had fun in Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, and Kohls just browsing around and getting lots of ideas for Fall decor. I’m thinking by the beginning of September we’ll be in full blown Fall mode up in here!
Just a few things I scooped up from Hobby Lobby. 40% off everything Fall right now and probably forever until its gone. I already have a good bit of orange decor, so I’m drawn more towards the black, white, and neutrals this year, and there is SO much to choose from! Also, I’m kinda a-lotta obsessed with buffalo check and burlap. I want it ALL!
Six. With the help of Kohls, my big girl got her first pair of Nikes! Fun fact about me–I don’t spend a lot of money on shoes, especially children’s shoes! But I had a gift card, rewards, and 20% off to use so it wasn’t too hard to stomach–they were also on sale. And I mean, how cute are these with the pretty coral and rose gold?! Love.
Seven. The first couple of days without Josie have definitely been an adjustment for all of us. The house is quieter, I’m being a little more productive, AND I’m getting one on one time with Isla, which has been really nice. It is important for me to give equal attention to both of my children, and I’ll have more time with Isla now to do so. When Josie is home they sing and dance and run around like little crazies, and I absolutely LOVE to sit back and watch them interact. It truly is the sweetest thing ever, but a small break from that chaos has been nice also.
Though, now that I’ll have less time with Josie, I want to plan some mommy-daughter dates and try to do one or two things a month just with her. Making the time with each kiddo alone helps grow our relationships and also gives them the undivided attention that they sometimes need. I never want my children to think that one comes before the other, so extra attention to each is a priority for me.
