Wow, you guys….just wow. It’s been over TWO months since my last blog post and I have major mixed emotions about it! A little sad, because I feel like I’ve abandoned my little baby and that is something I never ever want to do. Then on the flip side, I feel happy. I’m okay and not stressing about it because a lot has happened over the past 2 months in our family. And honestly, focusing my time on them, while trying to grow my little shampoo biz has taken priority over writing. While I’m still working hard to find that “balance” of all the things in my day-to-day….documenting our life, sharing things I love, and just having this space be a place you would want to come for all the things is something I am truly passionate about. And we have a big year planned and wouldn’t want y’all to miss it! So….now that’s out of the way….
Here’s a little wrapup of what we’ve been up to the past couple of months.
T-Ball. It had been a while since Josie did any kind of extra curricular activity so we signed her up for t-ball in early Spring. She always liked playing catch with Daddy in the back yard and hitting the ball so we thought it would be a good fit. And besides the occasional boredom while she’s out in the field (i.e. dancing, playing in the dirt, looking everywhere but at the ball–haha) she’s done pretty well! Only a couple of games left in the season then we’ll move on to the Ninja Warrior Playground this summer. She is super excited and asked for it specifically! Update on that to come soon.

Beach Trip. We took a long overdue, but short trip to South Carolina back in April. We needed to get away and have some QT before the summer craziness hit. We chose Myrtle Beach because its not a terrible car ride (around 8 hours) and it was far enough south that it was warm in April. We had a great time checking out local restaurants, playing in the pool, and lounging on the beach–my favorite thing in the whole wide world to do! We were only a mile from Broadway at the Beach and seemed to end up over there almost everyday–so much to do!

I was sad when the trip came to an end, but so SO happy we made it happen!
Josie’s 6th Birthday Party. We had Josie’s party a bit on the early side this year so Daddy could join us. It actually worked out pretty good as it was over Easter weekend and my Dad and some other family were in town. The party was super low key, and I reused a lot of decor with the exception of a cute unicorn table cloth and some plates/napkins.

The menu is always my favorite party of any party, and it was a good lineup!
-Biscuits and gravy casserole
-Bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on Hawaiian bread (let me tell you, you put anything on Hawaiian bread and it’s instantly going to be better–so good!)
-fresh fruit + yogurt + granola
-And the best and easiest dessert ever–a DONUT CAKE.

We wrapped up the party then spent the afternoon out at Bear Chase brewery to soak in the nice day with family. They had an event that day so it was super busy, but the kids had their faces painted and we had some good brewskis so it was worth the trip.

I have an entire Josie update coming to the blog soon! Can’t believe my baby girl is SIX years old!! *tear
Easter. Easter morning seemed to go by in a flash. Josie could NOT wait for her sister to open her basket and before I knew it, Easter grass and eggs were a’ flyin! I opted for less candy this year, and added some fun outdoor toys, a book, and garden tools. Josie’s main concern was opening ALL the eggs as fast as she could.

My brother and his wife hosted us for Easter dinner and made the most delicious beef tenderloin I’ve ever tasted. We did an egg hunt for all the girls and got to spend more quality time with family throughout the afternoon/evening. My dad stayed through the weekend, along with my uncle and my grandparents. It was really special to have everyone together for a holiday other than Christmas.

We got to dye eggs with Grampy on Friday which was fun too (said no one ever dying eggs with a 2 and 5 year old-haha). Actually, we used cool whip and food coloring for half of them to make these swirly tie-dye looking eggs that were my favorite. I’ll definitely be doing that method again.

Soaking up the Sun. We had a pretty mild Winter so once the weather started warming up we tried to get outside as much as possible for walks + playtime on the playground and hangs with our neighbor pals.

Goodbye to Daddy. The time we knew was coming finally arrived a few weeks ago and let me tell you, it never gets easier. Though when duty calls and Daddy has to go we make the best of a crappy situation and always try to look on the positive side of things. We are already missing him something terrible and started the countdown to when he comes home on the day he left. The girls and I have a few things scheduled for the summer to help pass the time but we can NOT wait to hug and smooch our Daddy again soon!

Mother’s Day. With Aaron being gone, this Mother’s Day wasn’t the most relaxing I’ve had, haha, but it was still special. My mom and brother came over for lunch and Josie made me some special gifts at school. Literally the best gift ever to this mama is something handmade by my baby girl. I’ll cherish that little card and those coupons I’ll never get to use forever! 😉 And Daddy sent me the most gorgeous flowers that made my day. It was a great Mother’s Day!

Thanks for catching up with us! With summer soon to be in full swing, I have some additional posts lined up so be sure to check back soon.
