Well here I am, a week into February writing this post about some of my favorite things in January. Truth is, time management is not my finest quality these days. Catering to tiny people all day long is hard work and has completely jacked up any sort of vision of a schedule I had in my head before officially staying home with my girls.
So, if I’m going to get one thing straight with myself it is this–do what I can, when I can, and don’t hold myself to some high unrealistic expectation too soon. I will find my groove with this blog, keeping up with housekeeping, etc. etc. etc.
Okay. Now that I have that off my chest, on with my January Favorites (listed in no particular order). I hope to share these monthly, ya know, so you don’t miss a moment in our super interesting lives–Ha! Seriously though, thanks again for reading my babble. I appreciate it! XO
Sunshiney January Days. We had a few warmer winter days this month which lead to one thing–fresh air! Which also gave Josie an opportunity to practice riding her bike. It’s a princess bike (with matching princess helmet, of course) with a little ring-a-ding bell that she loves to ring while cruising down the sidewalk. She’s working on overcoming her fear of slight hills/ramps, but I’m really proud of her progress.
I snuck in one run…admittedly, the first one since our 5K in November! I just cannot run outside when its freezing cold. I’m just not that hardcore and I’m also totally okay with that.
Ahhh…she looks like such a big girl here!
V-day PJ’s for Days. The day of love is right around the corner which means we wear our valentine-ish jammies more often. Isla has found the steps and LOVES climbing up them constantly along with giving mommy multiple mini-heart-attacks throughout the day. But honestly, I just can’t resist capturing these girls in playful moments.
Drybar Mama. So it’s official. Josie has been blessed with her mama’s crazy curly hair. It’s not nearly as thick as mine…yet…but it’s fun when she lets me style it like she did here. A blowout/style/curl for my girl. She loved it and couldn’t stop looking in the mirror flipping her hair from side to side.
I know I may be a bit bias, but I truly think she is the most beautiful girl in the world. That smile makes my heart so happy.
Whole 30 Completion. All I’m going to say here is….We. Freaking. Did. It. So proud of me and the hubs and will include a full recap of the program soon! I wrote a post halfway or so through–read about it here!
Moonlite Stories. So Santa hit a home run with a pretty cool gift for the girls. It’s called the Moonlite Storybook Projector. It’s this little projector that clips to your phone and projects onto your ceiling/wall via the flashlight on your phone. It’s super fun! We only have a few books to start, but I’m hoping to get a few more soon. The only thing that I don’t particularly like is that since we are reading the stories from our phone, Josie is not seeing the words, therefore we miss out on that opportunity to practice sight words, which we’ve been trying to do with bedtime books. But still…super easy, super affordable, and super fun for bedtime.
Superbowl Bound. The New England Patriots won the AFC Championship game and landed a spot in Superbowl LII!
But First, Coffee. Does anyone else go to bed thinking about their first cup of coffee in the morning? Ahhh…it’s the best. And now that I have my beloved creamer back I dream about it even more. Back in December we decided to retire our Keurig machine for a while (or indefinitely if you ask Aaron) and upgraded to the Ninja Coffeebar. We also decided to start grinding our own beans back in the summer which makes a huge difference in the flavor department. The Ninja lets us brew one cup to a carafe, espresso, and specialty drinks–it’s flat-out awesome.
Just Keep Swimming. My little Josie fish started swim lessons again in January, this time through Kid’s First. We really like it so far and appreciate the smaller, daytime classes that they offer. Learning to swim is such an important skill, and as much as she loves the water, I want her to feel confident and safe while she’s swimming.
For once this girl did not want her picture taken, que the forced smile and silly face.
Fresh Flowers are Life. Not sure why, but there is something about fresh flowers that just make me feel happy. I picked up these beautiful hydrangea stems at Costco for $9.99 for Isla’s birthday party, and they lasted a week! And I might just have to start picking them up on the regular for that price.
Nevermind the flowers….would ya look at that sweet little babe in the background.
Celebrate Good Times…c’mon! Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. January was chock full of birthdays to some of my favorite peeps: my uncle Scott, sister-in-law Amanda, nephew Parker, good friend Kathleen. I’m glad I was able to celebrate with everyone accept for one little guy–see you soon Park!
In addition, we celebrated the first birthday of the sweetest baby girl in the whole wide world AND attended a housewarming/gender reveal party for my sister/brother in law who are having a…GIRL!
I also got the BEST news that my other sister in law is expecting her first baby this Fall! Yay for babes! 🙂
All in all, it was a good month! How was your first month of the year??
Aww. Love you Jamie!
