It’s feels like I’ve been cooking and baking for a week straight at this point, but it’s only been about 24 hours. Haha.
With a Friendsgiving tonight and the main Thanksgiving event tomorrow, I thought I’d go ahead and share all the yumminess that I’ve been whipping up lately.
Turkey- I’m not expert here and in fact, last year was my first time roasting a turkey! I keep the seasoning pretty easy and just use some fresh herbs, salt & pepper, and lots of butter. This cheat sheet from Huffington Post saved my booty last year and will do the same this year. I got a 22lb turkey so I’ll need all the help I can get!
Mashed Potatoes– I needed some make ahead options for sides and when I found this on Pinterest I was like “ding-ding-ding!” We’ve got a winner!
Sweet Potato Casserole– I’ve made this one before and it doesn’t disappoint. I’ll go lighter on the marshmellows, but won’t skip them completely because my girls LOVE sweet potato casserole and they LOVE marshmellows!
Green Bean Casserole– My sister in law is bringing this, but I would typically just follow the classic recipe on the back on the good ol’ french fried onion can. Some classics just don’t need to be messed with, you guys.
Stuffing– I am making this recipe for the first time but purchased some already cubed fresh bread for a time saver.
Broccoli Casserole- This recipe is one of my all time favorites. It’s a Paula Dean recipe and my mom makes this for every holiday and everybody loves it! I couldn’t find the exact recipe online so here is a picture from her cook book!
Gravy– Found this recipe on Pinterest and seems easy enough!
Rolls- Rhodes yeast rolls is the way to go.
Cranberry Sauce- going the canned route for this one. No one is really a fan of cranberry sauce in my house, but it’s just one of those things you have to have on the table!
Pumpkin Pie– Another recipe I found on Pinterest and made for the first time today. It was super easy, so hopefully it’s delicious.
Tres Leches Cake– This cake is for our Friendsgiving and is basically to-die-for. If you’ve never had it, ORDER IT the next time you eat mexican. I even made the whipped cream from scratch so you KNOW it’s gonna be good.
Nutella Cream Pies– I made these several years ago for a cookie exchange and my girlfriend has talked about them ever since! She’ll get her own special box, but I’m bringing some for the party as well. But basically you have a nutella, butter, and marshmellow fluff smashed between two nutella cookies. Umm, how could this ever be a bad thing?
That’s it for now friends. Happy Feasting to you all!
