It’s the weekend which means this mama has a little more time to get creative in the kitchen. Josie was begging for pancakes the other morning, so I knew those were on the menu for sure…but these easy Halloween pancakes? They were a last-minute decision. And let me tell you, they take way less effort than they appear.
First things first, I started with a box pancake mix. You can go the homemade route if you want, but today I used some good ol’ Hungry Jack because it only requires one ingredient–water. Easy peasy.
Next transfer the mix to a piping bag with a #9 tip, or similar. I actually used an old school decorator kit from Pampered Chef. But honestly, one of those squirt bottles would be perfect or even just a Ziploc bag with the corner cut out would be fine. Use what you have, peeps. Keep it simple.
Heat up your griddle or whatever pan you’re using. I find the griddle to be the best because I can cook more at one time. Slather that bad boy with butter to get it nice and greased up. I actually love a little crisp on my pancake edges and the butter helps achieve that.

Next up, take your squirt bottle or piping bag (or whatever you’re using) and draw out your design with the batter. I free-handed everything and clearly, it isn’t perfect. But my girls sure did think it was fun. Even if Josie thought my ghost was a snowman. Really? C’mon kid. Mama tried….mama tried. Haha.
Lastly, gently flip to finish cooking and top with whipped cream, Halloween sprinkles, and a side of maple syrup for dipping.
I told ya, easy peasy Halloween pancakes. And how fun to do on other holidays, special occasions, or just a random Saturday. Along with my Halloween cookies, it’s all about bringing in a little bit of fun into the kitchen with your kiddos. Enjoy!
