Y’all. My first born…my baby girl…my lively little ball of never ending sweet and silly entertainment…and my best buddy in the whole wide world is turning five years old in a few weeks. FIVE! As happy as I am for her to begin a new chapter of her childhood, I’m just not so sure I’m ready for all that comes after. I mean, five is official big girl status. There is school and new friends and experiences. How is she already old enough to do ALL of these things without Mom? She’s already so outgoing and independent so I know she’ll have no problems, but it doesn’t make the reality of her growing up so fast any easier.

My main reason for becoming a stay at home mom was to spend as much time as possible with my girls while they’re little. I feel a small bit of guilt for missing so much of Josie’s first few years that I want to cram in as much fun and adventure as possible in my last few months with her.
I consider five a milestone birthday and I want to make it extra special for her. In that spirit, we are doing some fun things leading up, and then more fun over the summer. I can’t to see her face for one thing in particular!
I’ve planned FIVE special adventures for us to do leading up to her Superhero Birthday Party on the 19th…five things that she’s never seen or experienced. Here they are in no particular order. 🙂
- First Haircut
- First Ear-Piercing
- First Horseback Ride
- First Strawberry Picking
- First Big Girl Mani/Pedi
She’s 100% girlie girl so all the pampering was a must! We crossed #1 off the list this week and she LOVED it!
3 inches cut off!
She loved her braid! Thanks Lindsay 🙂
Her BIG SURPRISE will be in June! We are taking a trip to Florida and will be making a short trip to Disney World while we’re there! She is going to totally flip and I’m trying to decide when the best time is to tell her. I’ll probably wait until the night before because girlfriend will be talking about it NON-STOP if I do it any sooner.

We are literally going to Magic Kingdom for ONE day to test the waters for a potential long trip next year. Naturally, we were last minute booking this trip so anything you could possibly need a reservation for is booked—but its okay! We’ll have a great time regardless and she won’t know what she’s missing, right? Plus, June is probably the least preferable time to go see the mouse as I’m sure it will be packed and blazing HOT! So in preparation I’ve already scoped out restaurants that serve alcohol to get me through the day–haha, kidding! Maybe…. 😉
I’m so excited for all our fun plans and more excited to see her reactions. I mean, is there anything better than seeing pure and utter happiness on your child’s face?! It’s literally the BEST part of being a parent.
If you have any tips for Disney please send them my way. I’ll take all the help I can get to make this a magical day for all of us!
